What is BRCGS Global Standard for Packaging and Packaging Materials?

BRC/IoP Global Standard – Packaging is an international standard covering the manufacture, processing and further handling of packaging intended for direct and indirect contact with products intended for packaging food, cosmetic and hygiene products.

The BRC/IoP scheme includes verification of the company's performance in the areas of regulatory compliance, food / food chain safety and batch quality in line with customer expectations.

This is a set of requirements that must be met to establish compliance in the above areas.

The BRC/IoP Global Standard – Packaging is a collaboration between the BRC (British Retail Consortium) and the IoP (Institute of Packaging). Company history

The company Martin Peroutka was founded by its owner in 1990 and the first goal was the production of coiled cardboard. In the following year, the company responded to the expansion of computer technology and began producing transcription forms with perforation guides. So the company started with offset printing.

After about 3 years, it became apparent that flexible printing technology was developing very rapidly around the world. The company responded by purchasing flexographic printing machines for printing self-adhesive labels and packaging materials. It was the first company in the Czech Republic to start painting thermo-labels, which no one in the Czech Republic had done before. At the time, the company gained about a two-year head start on the competition before the technology was generally mastered.

In the following years, the first shrink sleeves appeared in the world. There is no suitable Czech name for this product. These are shrink sleeves that have begun to replace the well-established self-adhesive labels.

The company reacted to this event by purchasing equipment for the production of shrink sleeves and, for those customers who did not have their own application equipment at that time, the company offered the application on its own equipment installed at Martin Peroutka. The company was the first to start this production in the Czech Republic.

Martin Peroutka maintained its leadership even after the advent of digital printing technology and purchased digital printing technology for printing self-adhesive labels. Martin Peroutka was the first company in the Czech Republic to invest in the purchase of a wide digital printing machine for printing packaging materials and shrink sleeves. Later this year, a thermolaminating machine that enables glue-free, highly environmentally friendly lamination of packaging films will be installed. The Martin Peroutka plant will be only the second facility in Europe to have this installation in this time.

After the New Year, the company plans to install a line for the production of stand-up resealable bags, which will build on digital printing technology.
